Latest Show
October in the hill country is a great time of the year….ok its just hot this year. I joined my neighbors to do the Trade Days Show in Fredricksburg, TX this weekend. It was a great time and had a good crowd of people shopping the booths. It was a fun show and I look forward to next month. Click the pic to see pictures.
My neighbors do several Arts and Crafts shows each year, they convinced me to join them at this show. Together they make these wonderful bird houses. No….. I know what your thinking you have seen all kinds of bird houses. I bet you have never seen the ART that these wonderful people create. This gallery displays some of their work. It won’t do true justice.
The houses are made out of 150+ year old cyprus wood from out buildings on Joan’s family farm, some is even from the smokehouse. They have antique tin roofs and brass accents on all sides. Some have stain glass and others have old window louvers. These actually have alight inside them and make great accent pieces. Check them out and enjoy!
Fourth Show
September in Round Rock, TX ….its like being in a blast furnace except with humidity. I don’t think we will rain out today not a cloud in the sky but it sure is hot.
This show is very slow today, I don’t think anyone wants to brave the heat. I was shocked today by two women who made a terrible comment about a homeless woman and New Orleans…needless to say I was shocked and mad. I made them feel like they acted….some people sure have lost the ability to care about others.
The last hours of the show was good more people and many interested lookers….many asked if I would be here next month….I think the Fall Christmas selling season will be good.
Third Show
It’s another hot day here in Texas…102 officially….One of my friends decided to join me this time. There are a lot of dark clouds in the sky and I wonder if we are going to be rained out again this month. I’m ready though… I parked close and I have a plan on how to protect my work this time.
Well the wind came up and the temp dropped…..just as I was putting away my work it started to sprinkle. Of course this is when the customers come by who want to buy…two this time ahhh but once again the rain pushed them away. We will see what next month brings…
Second Show
Well the show started really slow today, let’s just say it was Hot..Hot…Hot. As the evening started to cool down a black cloud moved overhead, I mean this in as a weather statement. It wasn’t long before the sky’s opened up to rain….just as I had a customer who was interested in some of my work…..Oh well…The rain caught me unprepared and all of my work was soaked by the rain. The show was called for rain and I have to go clean up all my work….we will wee what next month brings.
First Show
My first show was the Main Street Stroll in my home town of Round Rock, TX. The other vendors said that the show was slow, but it was a holiday week and many people were probably out of town. I enjoyed displaying my stuff for the first time and met many really nice people.
I had a great location between the cajun restaurant and the tea shop. The owner of the restaurant filled me with catfish and hush puppies. Thats a good day any day…lol. Lots of people stopped to look but none of the vendors were selling much stuff.
All in all, I really enjoyed myself and gave my stuff to my neighbor who is at a 3 day show in Austin this weekend. Wish me luck!
